DECOFI – GREEN TREE PLANTING VOLUNTEER DAY – A JOURNEY TO CAN GIO
Can Gio is not just a land of pristine nature; it is also home to resilient people who have been connected to the mangrove forests for generations. Beneath its humble exterior, however, lie hardships and deprivations that few are aware of.
The residents here live with basic shortages, from fresh water to mobile phone signals, where a cubic meter of clean water can cost as much as a day's labor. They sustain themselves through aquaculture, but the harsh environment makes their lives more challenging than ever. Despite these difficulties, they remain steadfast in protecting the forests and regenerating the precious green spaces for their homeland.
DECOFI decided not just to come and plant trees, but to bring love and responsibility to the community, sharing compassion through small gifts. Each green sapling we carefully planted was not only a symbol of life but also a beacon of hope, contributing to the Earth's green lungs.
We, the members of DECOFI, have pledged to continue this journey, to return to Can Gio, or wherever else we are needed. Because we believe that as long as a seed is planted, tomorrow will blossom into lush green forests, where humans and nature will create a brighter future together.
DECOFI sincerely thanks the Can Gio Youth Union and the leaders of Tan Dong Hiep Commune for their support in creating a truly meaningful and humane volunteer day. We look forward to seeing you again in our future volunteer activities.
